A forest planted in a day.
To celebrate the launch of Tribes of Midgard, Gearbox partnered with the charitable organization One Tree Planted to help support Tribes of Midgard and also give back to the planet and help restore the forests around the globe. With a mission to help global reforestation efforts, One Tree Planted is the perfect charity to join forces with, especially since the main theme of Tribes of Midgard is to protect the Tree of Yggdrasil.
On July 27, 2021, a challenge was given to the community. For every Giant a player took down, Gearbox committed to planting a tree in their honor. Not only did each player come ready to defend the seed of Yggdrasil, but they also arrived with an appetite for Giants it would seem.
Our expectations were not only met but surpassed, with 40,000 Giants having been brought down in just a few hours. Because of this amazing milestone, Gearbox will plant 40,000 trees with the help of One Tree Planted.
We at Gearbox would like to thank everyone who helped participate in this amazing collaboration. You all certainly have made Yggdrasil proud.
